The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) has established criteria for protection from wind-borne debris in both the Inland 1 and Seaward zones.
ODL Tubular Skylights are made in a variety of constructions, and are grouped under two different Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) Product Evaluations, SK-06 and SK-25.
ODL's Impact Resistant tubular skylights are listed in TDI Product Evaluation SK-06 (41 K, Adobe PDF).
- These skylight assemblies satisfy the TDI criteria for protection from windborne debris in both the Inland 1 zone and the Seaward zone.
- The skylight assemblies pass Missile Level D specified in ASTM E 1996-05.
- These skylight assemblies will not need to be protected with an impact protective system.
- The skylight assemblies may be installed at any height on the structure as long as the design pressure rating for the assemblies is not exceeded.
- These tubular skylight assemblies have design pressure ratings of +/- 100 psf.
ODL's Non-Impact Resistant tubular skylights are listed in TDI Product Evaluation SK-25 (53 K, Adobe PDF).
- These skylights do not satisfy the TDI criteria for protection from windborne debris.
- These skylight assemblies will need to be protected with an impact-protective system when installed in areas where windborne debris resistance is required.
- These tubular skylight assemblies have design pressure ratings ranging from +/- 50 to +/- 90 psf.
