Energy Efficiency
ODL glass can be used in doors to meet ENERGY STAR® criteria.
A green home doesn’t have to compromise beauty or natural light. ODL Doorglass can be used in doors to meet ENERGY STAR® and Green Building criteria.
Energy efficiency ratings vary by door construction, doorglass type, and size. The reference ratings below were developed by an independent test facility for full size doorglass in a steel door with a wood edge and polyurethane core.
| ½” clear | 1” clear | 1”clear Low E |

Low E Doorglass Blind |
Low E Internal Muntin Blind |

ENERGY STAR® Performance Criteria
The ENERGY STAR® Windows Program is a voluntary partnership between the Department of Energy (DOE) and the fenestration industry (NFRC) to promote sales of energy efficient windows, doors, and skylights. Regional thermal performance standards as defined by DOE for 2005 are presented below. Local and state codes are developed using ENERGY STAR® standards as a guideline but may be more or less stringent.
| Climate Zone | Max. U- factor | MAX. SHGC |
|---|---|---|
| North | 0.35 | Any |
| North/Central | 0.40 | 0.55 |
| South/Central | 0.40 | 0.40 |
| Southern | 0.65 | 0.40 |

The National Green Building Standard Criteria
The National Green Building Standard was developed by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the International Code Council (ICC) to establish design, construction, and remodel practices for green residential buildings. One rating criteria is that the U factor and SHGC for a minimum of 80% of the total area of the windows, exterior doors, and tubular skylights are in accordance with ENERGY STAR®.
The Standard defines enhanced specifications for windows and doors that earn additional performance level points. See the Standard for more details.

| Zone 3 | 0.35 | 0.30 |
